Feroz Khan plays a thief named Rajesh who is blackmailed by villain Vikram [Shakti Kapoor] and his evil sister Jwala [Aruna Irani] into staking from crime boss Rakka [Amrish Puri]. Jwala is Rakkas ex wife and has been cheated by Rakka, who has stolen her fortune and divorced her. Jwala wants revenge and will stop at nothing to get it. If Rajesh does not do the job, Vikram will kill Rajeshs lover, Sheela [Zeenat Aman], who is a disco club singer and dancer, and Rajeshs best friend Amars [Vinod Khanna] daughter Tina [Natasha Chopra]. The thief is continuously being stalled by Inspector Amjad Khan. Amar is an eligible young widower, who meets with beautiful Sheela, and falls in love with her. But Sheela, while taking a maternal affinity to little Tina, does not reciprocate his advances, as she loves Rajesh. Unknown to Sheela, Amar and Rajesh meet each other, and a strong friendship bond is formed. Rajesh would like Amar to settle in the U.K. and so they concoct a scheme whereby Amar would steal gold bars and jewellery from a safe, then phone the police, and then let Rajesh take over, get arrested, get a prison term for about 12 to 18 months, and after his release, he will join Amar abroad in U.K. Things dont go according to plan as Amar gets accused for killing Rakka, and the police construe that Rajesh has been framed by Amar, so that Amar can get Rajesh out of the way, keep all the money, as well as Sheela, all for himself.

Production

The role of Amar was initially offered to Amitabh Bachchan by Feroz Khan, but after he refused Vinod Khanna was cast. To draw shock from the audience, a scene was included with the calculated decimation of a Mercedes Benz in an underground parking lot. This was at a time when not many in India had seen a Mercedes, let alone sat in one.

Box office

Qurbani became a box office success and the biggest hit of the year. Its songs were popular and the movie sold the most number of records and tapes in that year.
