The soundtrack was composed by Lalit Pandit and released on December 14, 2009. The lyrics are written by Mudassar Aziz; songs are arranged by Richard Mithra and Kashinath Kashyap; and all songs are mixed and engineered by Abani Tanti. According to Pandit, he had to listen to hip hop music to compose the album as he had never heard songs of the genre and had no experience writing hip hop tracks.

Filming

= About half of the movie was shot in Amritsar and Mumbai. The other half was filmed in Trinidad and Tobago over a month and a half period in 2007, making it the first Bollywood film to be shot in the islands. Production was delayed a year and a half while Shahrukh Khan found time to shoot his scenes. Production was further delayed when Khan injured his shoulder during an action scene.

Box office

= Dulha Mil Gaya made only Rs. 3 crores at the box office. Box office India declared it a flop.

Critical response

The reviews to the film were rarely all negative, blaming the script and lack of comedy. The film had a poor opening. Many people saw it as a crude remake of the blockbuster Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, while lacking the humor and emotional depth. Although it stayed in cinemas for a few weeks, the film was declared a flop.

Plot synopsis

Dulha Mil Gaya is a film about relationships and the changes that happen in peoples lives when they fall in love. The film starts with Tej Dhanraj or "Donsai" [Fardeen Khan] who is a wealthy man who likes women but does not intend on getting married. He has a friend who is a model, Shimmer [Sushmita Sen], and she is deeply in love with a man and does not intend to get married either. Tej has to marry a young woman his father chose so he can get his fathers wealth. He marries Sammarpreet [Ishita Sharma]. Tej then tells her that he will leave the city for a couple of days for work and will be in contact. Then Tej goes away for three months and doesnt contact his wife, so Sammarpreet decides to go to Tobago, where Tej lives. When she gets there, she sees her husband dancing with another woman. She then walks sadly down the road and gets hit by a car. She rolls down a hill and stops at another road where Shimmer finds her. Shimmer realises that Tej has only married for money. She also doesnt have the heart to leave Sammarpreet in that situation. Shimmer gives Sammarpreet a makeover. Shimmer also changes Sammarpreets name to Samara. Tej falls in love with her not knowing she is his wife. So Samara and Shimmer play a little game with Tej. They have fun until Shimmers unexpected boyfriend Pavan [Shahrukh Khan], appears on Shimmers door the next day, with Shimmer not wanting him there. Tej then asks Samara out on a date, still not knowing its his wife, then Samara excepts, while Shimmer tells Pavan to leave her alone, and Pavan also agrees. While Pavan is waiting for his flight at the airport, the wonder stuck in his thought if Shimmer will come to wave him goodbye, he was pretty sure she will not come, until she shows up with her DJ Friend Jigar [Mohit Chadda] and proposes to Pavan. Pavan once again accepts, and Shimmer and Pavan go to get married. While it is revealed that Samara actually is Tejs wife Samarpreet and they all live hapilly ever after. The film ends with Jigar and his girlfriend Tanvi [Tara Sharma] watching Pavan carrying Shimmer to his limo.

Casting

= Shahrukh Khan was set to make a 60-minute appearance in the film. He filmed about 17 scenes and three songs. Among the three, one is his entry sequence. Khan enters the film in the second half but has a very powerful role. He was a part of the publicity but only within the parameters of his role. The film was not marketed as a Shahrukh Khan film. Sushmita plays the role of a successful supermodel called Shimmer.
