Aarakshan is the story about Dr. Prabhakar Anand Sir, a idealistic college principal. Dr. Prabhakar Anand Sir is a person who does not believe in castes ism. When all his students, including his star pupil named Deepak Kumar. The role of Deepak Kumar is portrayed by Saif Ali Khan also accuses him of being a cast est. The impact that this has that Deepak is also in love with Dr. Prabhakar Anand Sirs daughter, Poorbie Deepika Padukone. In the first week of May, 2011, civic authorities in Bhopal bulldozed the sets of Aarakshan because it was erected on disputed land, upsetting the director Prakash Jha Some so-called-Dalit groups in Kanpur protested Saif Ali Khan being casted in the role of a Dalit. The objection is because the actor is from a royal background and the groups think he portraying role of a so-called-Dalit is an insult of the community.
