Aarakshan is an upcoming Hindi film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone. Directed by Prakash Jha, who also directed Rajneeti, it is a high voltage drama based on one of the most controversial policies of caste based reservations in government jobs and educational institutions. Most of the shooting for the movie will take place in Bhopal. The First Assistant Director on set is Karan Talwar. The film will also star Prateik Babbar and Manoj Bajpai. The film is set to release on August 12, 2011.
Aarakshan is the story about Dr. Prabhakar Anand Sir, a idealistic college principal. Dr. Prabhakar Anand Sir is a person who does not believe in castes ism. When all his students, including his star pupil named Deepak Kumar. The role of Deepak Kumar is portrayed by Saif Ali Khan also accuses him of being a cast est. The impact that this has that Deepak is also in love with Dr. Prabhakar Anand Sirs daughter, Poorbie Deepika Padukone. Literally when Poorbie finds out that Deepak misbehaved; spoke rudely with her father she goes to him and speaks her heart out. Deepak gets very infuriated and tries to explain to her that only because he is a Dalit. Poorbie realizes and tries to dealt with her father regarding the same issue. Sushant Prateik Babbar is also against Dr. Prabhakar Anand Sir as he feels that Prabhakar Anand is also plotting against his students lives, with the assistance of their careers foe.

In the first week of May, 2011, civic authorities in Bhopal bulldozed the sets of Aarakshan because it was erected on disputed land, upsetting the director Prakash Jha
Some so-called-Dalit groups in Kanpur protested Saif Ali Khan being casted in the role of a Dalit. The objection is because the actor is from a royal background and the groups think he portraying role of a so-called-Dalit is an insult of the community. Though the organisation doesnt seem to be a registered organisation.
